Jordan E. Davis, M.A.

Historical Archaeologist

My name is Jordan E. Davis (M.A.), a PhD student in Anthropology at the University of Texas at Austin, studying Historical and African Diaspora Archaeology. Born in Hammond, Louisiana, I grew up in the Midwest and completed my M.A. in Anthropology at the University of South Carolina. My research centers on African American experiences of enslavement, emancipation, and freedom. I have conducted archaeological research in the Caribbean (Nevis), West Africa (Senegal), and the United States (AZ, FL, WA), and I am the Principal Investigator of the Kincheonville Archaeological and Heritage Landscape Project in Austin, TX. Beyond my studies, I am a former elected official and active member of the Society of Black Archaeologists. My advisor is Dr. Maria Franklin.
